(21,324 posts)I am listening to Michael Bolton. His songs came up often on YouTube shorts so I looked up his work. I saw where he had brain surgery to remove a tumor last year. I got wound up in his songs and the writer Diane Warren who wrote many of his songs - love songs. I even read his autobiography and was so impressed. He is a good man, or as my neighbor said after reading it as well - he is a mensch.
I related to his childhood and crazy things we did back in the day - like driving a Wonder bread truck to California from Connecticut as a teenager in his case. This was back before the days of the helicopter parent where moms were too busy to do much more than corral her kids once in a while.
The other surprise was the work by Diane Warren. She is a prolific song writer, mainly loves songs. The amazing thing is, she is on the spectrum and though she tried have a long term relationship once, it was not for her. The lyrics could be seen as idealized love/romance songs, but one in particular was stunning in its perception of love - In the Arms of Love. It more resembles the love we wish all children should receive.
While delving into this obsession, I learned a lot about someone I did not appreciate back in the day. He worked 10 years until he had a hit and never gave up. He lives with integrity as well. A film will be coming out on January 10 about Diane Warren - a most unique and talented woman.
