In reply to the discussion: House votes 285-98 to denounce 'horrors' of socialism ahead of Mamdani-Trump meeting [View all]-misanthroptimist
(1,551 posts)68. Doesn't change my point, really, does it?
Those countries do have mixed economies, but as you point out, that includes socialism. The very socialism that our House condemned this very day. If we accept that condemnation then we are saying some evil is okay. Of course, the "horrors" associated with socialism isn't socialism at all. It was and is despotism. And that's what those countries lack. That is why they are happy. Economically, they have something approaching decency while retaining democracy.

Democratic Socialism as referenced by people like Bernie and Mandami is actually social democracy.

Oh, no! Not socialism! Someone might go to the library, a public school, mail a letter, ride a bus.

Ignorant vote put forth by ignoramuses. Democratic socialism is NOT Marxist/Communist socialism.

Do Trumpsters really denounce socialism? Not if there is money in it for them.
