Around here in South Central Pennsylvania, a snow emergency generally activates parking restrictions associated with snow emergency routes. Snow emergency routes have been designated in many towns and cities comprising many of the most important streets and roads. When a snow emergency alert is issued, all vehicles parked on those streets where signage indicates no parking during these times are required, by law, to be moved elsewhere to allow snow plowing of the road surface and to ensure emergency vehicles like fire trucks and ambulances can get through to respond to actual emergencies.
