(14,380 posts)The agency sent us Rena.... and she was wonderful. In her 70's. She was a sergeant in the Jamaica army and then moved to the U.S. with her family. She owned a house in Jamaica and planned to move there when she retired. Lynn was going to be her last client and then she would retire.
Sundays were the best, when we would cook breakfast together. I would do the eggs, Rena would do bacon, sausage and grits.
After Lynn passed, we would have her over for supper or afternoon tea/coffee. She lived about 5 miles away in East Orange. She would also visit her mom in Brooklyn and sometimes stay there.
Then came covid. She went to stay with her mom. That was the last we heard from her. We tried finding what happened to her. The staff at her apartment building had no information. The nursing home agency had no contact after she retired. So we guess she was one of Covid's victims.
I think of her every Sunday morning, when I am frying eggs.
