At one time republicans repeated "run government like a business" like a mantra.
Then when they got the chance by making medicare and medicaid single payer for drugs and medical devices, they said no it wouldn't be fair.
A business that doesn't use its size for volume buying isn't going to be a business very long.
It was just more proof that they were full of shit.
