This story was reported as if Trump currently has the power to fire government officials- he does not.
That he has nominated someone to replace Khan is not a surprise, it was expected.

(In fact, there were rumours that Harris wouldn’t have kept Khan at FTC had she been elected- many of her big donors, such as Mark Cuban, demanded Khan be replaced, and it was something Harris never denied)
