When I go camping or treking I will sometimes have nearly a dozen throughout my pack. I keep one ranger banded to my main knife sheath. others are attached to pack straps and stuffed into other gear.

If one fails, a dozen won't. If they all get wet, wait a few minutes, but what are the odds that they ALL get wet.
