LANSING (WJRT) (11/30/2018) - Michigan Senate Republicans are pushing for some limits to the state's new recreational marijuana law before it even takes effect.

The law won 56 percent support from voters at the polls on Nov. 6, but Republican lawmakers are trying to impose some limits

Starting next Thursday, when recreational marijuana becomes legal in Michigan, anyone age 21 and older can grow up to 12 plants in their home for their own use.

They also can carry up to 10 grams of marijuana on them in public and give away 2.5 grams without receiving any payment in return.

However, Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhoff, a Republican from Ottawa County, just introduced a bill that wouldn't allow home grows.
