from the top on down, get such big contributions from Pharma and private prisons and any other group that benefits from the Drug War, and law enforcement (and lawyers) make so fucking much money off of it - grants, weapons, seizure of property. When some police departments actually budget for what they will be pulling in, for civil forfeiture, then it is now all about the money.

I doubt tobacco companies will be for it, unless, of course, they can corner the market, too.

Have to get rid of not only Citizens United, but fundamentally change the way campaigns are funded. IMO and all that. No donations, set amount from the government, relatively short campaign season. Which would piss off the media, of course, and, well, I guess I would rather see some politicians always be fund-raising than actually introducing and passing bills. There is that.
