He was bored with the real estate company his father had founded, so let most of the employees go so he could focus on the Sky.

Many of the employees got a buyout. I was not one of them, but fired after being out on sick leave after surgery to repair a detached retina. Forgive my cynicism, but I have a low opinion of rich boys who get to indulge their hobbies.
