But I think the actor who stole the show was Mark Rylance, the English actor who portrayed Rudolf Abel---the Russian spy that Hanks' character was trying to swap for the imprisoned American pilot.

I also think that Spielberg should be using the Coen brothers in his future productions---their re-write of the script made for a sharper, more intelligent final result, free of the excess sentimentality that Spielberg is prone to use. Excellent movie, glad you enjoyed it.
