There's nothing the press dismisses more quickly than something that is continuing. If it's not "fresh" then they don't want to cover it. And they have a readership/viewership that thinks exactly the same way.

Once the movement grows and spreads, then it will get the attention it has always deserved, and hopefully positive attention (versus what I would expect from some members of DU...)
