The 55-year-old victim was rushed to Bellevue Hospital with a non-life threatening graze wound, sources said.
The 42-year-old shooter fired into the floor of the Park Ave. hotel’s first-floor lobby about 7:25 p.m. as photos were being taken at a wedding reception.
A high-ranking NYPD source said the gun was in the man’s pocket when it went off. "It's looking accidental. There's a hole in his pocket," the source said. "The woman hit was in no way the intended target. " Three other victims — a 38-year-old woman, a 45-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man — were rushed to area hospitals after suffering injuries to their legs, sources said. A fifth victim was also hospitalized, sources said.
It was unclear if they were hit by bullet fragments or debris from the round striking the ground.
The gunman was apprehended at the scene, but the weapon was not initially recovered, sources said. Detectives were seen rooting through nearby garbage cans in search of the gun. "We need to know what happened. Guns just don't go off,” a source said. “And we know it wasn't a shotgun wedding ."
