lib: With a few tweeks and some honest negotiation with the opposition, it passed

Yeah, as usual, the left position actually can call a compromise a compromise, whereas the right has no real understanding of the word.

The proposal from Sen. Barbara A. Favola (D-Arlington) failed Monday but was granted a new vote because of confusion over its fate. In the intervening days, Favola limited the misdemeanor crimes involved to only those involving domestic violence.
Previously, brandishing a weapon or any two misdemeanors could cost a perpetrator the right to possess a firearm. Lawmakers on the Republican-dominated Courts of Justice Committee also narrowed the time an offender is barred from applying for restitution of his or her gun rights from five years to one.

Brandishing & misdemeanoring I can live with, but reducing 'restoration of gun rights' from a 5 yr wait to one year, which side really won this? Let's go have a pyrrhic victory party.
