I think race is less a factor than the fact that he random at willy nilly shot an 8 year old kid in a neighborhood he had no business being in.

BRIAN CLONINGER: TEXAS MAN ARRESTED FOR INTENTIONALLY SHOOTING 8-YEAR OLD BOY IN THE FACE, REPORT SAYS — 9/05/2013 Brian Cloninger, 46, was arrested by police in Dallas, TX on September 3, 2013 for shooting an eight year old boy in the face. The victim had just turned eight three days earlier and went outside to collect his birthday gifts. He encountered Cloninger who was wearing one shoe and does not live in the neighborhood, and the two reportedly had some sort of exchange. The boy started running away, but witnesses report that Cloninger pulled out a handgun and fired twice at the victim, hitting him once in the face. Witnesses report seeing Cloninger handing out free firecrackers to children playing in the parking lot earlier in the day. He attempted to drive away after the shooting, but his vehicle would not start. He reportedly told a witness, “I did that.” The victim’s grandfather said, “It’s unbelievable. I mean, I don’t know anyone that could put it into words. Mother sends you out to gather your toys and, you know, someone fires two shots at you.” Cloninger was arrested and booked into jail on a charge of felony injury to a child. He is being held on $2.2 million bond.

Well if the little boy had JUST been nicer to the scary creep in his neighborhood he wouldn't have had to shoot him.
