its supporters will claim that the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms supersedes any "responsibility" issues imposed by a "Librul" tyrannical government. The right-wing, Libertarian gun culture in this country believes that all Constitutional rights come without any strings attached, and absolutely no liability for the exercise of those rights in any manner they see fit.

Wayne LaPierre, Crazy Teddy, and their apologists (we have a few on DU) believe that the Second Amendment also guarantees them the right to complete secrecy about their ownership of guns, even when they carry their precious in public.

Fortunately, most American gun owners do NOT belong to the NRA, nor do they subscribe to the extremist views of the very vocal minority of gun nuts who amass arsenals of lethal weapons. These are the same gun nuts who claim to represent "80 million gun owners" and who spew vast amounts of NRA-skewed "statistics" in a lame attempt to justify their part in enabling the gun deaths and injuries in this country.

Most American gun owners are in favor of assigning more responsibility and liability to the ownership of guns, and support sane gun control measures. Like the majority of Americans, they have had enough, and they see through the NRA fear-mongering lie about "the Democrats are coming for your guns."
