would have had the resources that she had as a chicago public school student with a mental illness if we were going through that today. she needed that support, but it was and is very expensive. it really surprised me.

but it did (and does) strike me as being funded and handled through the wrong stream. cps has "schools" for kids with cerebral palsy and severe brain damage. these children certainly need to be cared for. but by the schools? i don't get it.
