This country has an unwholesome acceptance of violence. James P. McClain, prosecutor for Atlantic County NJ, accepted Ray Rice into a pretrial intervention program (PTI) whereby he completes counseling among other specified tasks and the case against him does not proceed. After the PTI period, if he has completed those tasks and avoids further charges, an application to expunge his record will be accepted.

THIS IS HORRENDOUS! Does anyone sane think this is a good idea?

On the other hand McClain refused to accept Shaneen Allen into such a program. Ms Allen is a single parent working 2 jobs whose crime was not realizing that her PA concealed carry permit did not let her keep her handgun in her car while driving in New Jersey. She didn't hit anyone, she didn't assault anyone. All she did was try to be responsible and inform an officer about the gun in her car when stopped for a traffic violation. She got the gun after being robbed twice last year.

Whether you think it's a good idea or not to have a gun, who deserves jail here and who deserves another chance?
