Like RedQueen said-- we all self censor. I think they think that they are being told what to do. Not the point.

I have the book "Cunt: A Declaration of Independence", which I enjoy very much. Not to "take back" the word, but to understand the historical context and own the word. As some of our UK posters have pointed out, over there, it's usage is more common and less offensive, probably the equivalent of "cooze"or "twat" over here -- which doesn't make it less sexist-- although it's applied to men as well, much like "bitch" is applied to men over here.

It's still insults based on women's sexuality-- not so much the genitals themselves but what we do with them. Who, what and how often. That's when it gets offensive. Likes Lioness la Prianka's thread on the word "pussy" the words imply an inferiority, and thus men maintain sexual entitlement
