Occupy Sandy Does Not Signify Occupy Wall Street Has Found ‘New Purpose’

I won't post a text teaser; if you're interested, check the article in one go at the source. It is very true and largely ignored that the Occupy camps provided food, housing, health care and a new sense of community, belonging, and purpose from the very beginning. The city of Oakland had a report that during the Occupy Oakland encampment, crime fell 19%.

It is indeed that “The Zuccotti Park protest camp which was evicted last November and the enormous post-Sandy volunteer effort going on this week are different expressions of the same thing: overwhelming human response to crisis.”
