But we slide things around, given all the holidays and birthdays this general time of year.

“Time is but the stream I go a-fishing in. I drink at it; but while I drink I see the sandy bottom and detect how shallow it is. Its thin current slides away, but eternity remains.”
― Henry David Thoreau, Walden

My Mom introduced me to Thoreau at an early age, a radical thing to do.
And she and Dad both passed in 1999. She did around this time of year, so I welcomed the Millennium on the flight back,
Only the pleasant memories of them remain.

In the past, our paternal side of the family celebrated the Feast of Seven Fishes on the vigil of Christmas.
This year, I made cioppino for myself.

For the vigil.

And don't forget the struffoli! Make in advance.
