2. Did you download the "free thing" it offered? If so, I would delete it immediately.

Don't open it if you haven't already. I get these things sometimes. They want you to download their "free thing" because THAT is the malware or whatever. If you can't get the alarming "permanently destroy" pop-up window to close, just shut off your phone. It will be gone when you come back. Never download anything from one of those pop-ups. Do you have any kind of (real) security software on your phone? If so, run that.
