Turtle Island is a common name for the earth by a lot of the northeast tribes, including the Ojibwe. This one person's belief would be unusual.

The Ojibwe I've talked to about the 7th Fire say it means "don't trust white people." The prophecy talks about people from a far off land who are greedy and deceptive, but pretend to be good. (The prophecy dates back from the days before the first Europeans came.) Only if they show by their actions to be good should they be trusted.
