Here's the pertinent part of the email my regular recruiter sent just now:

Hi Eric...the manager at HR said one project is being put on hold so they can't make offers after all...

I called the other guy, had to leave a message, but have accepted the "lesser" position. One perk I hadn't mentioned, though, is that they work 4 tens, or Monday-Thursday, ten hours a day. Will be nice to have that Friday off, and every week!
