9. thank you. it's been unbelievably tough...

...getting my feet back under me at my age, in a new area, with no connections and with unemployment as high as it's been really for the last 14 years...since W.

Part of the problem has been so many drowning people grabbing on to me. So much time, effort, money and energy lost to protecting my animals, my farm and my job while trying to free myself from their grip while they try to drag me down under with them. I never fully understood the saying "misery loves company" until now. I always thought it meant miserable people like to hang out together and whine. Now I understand it to mean they do everything they can to spread their misery...and reasonably happy people attract them like flies to honey. It's very sad.

It really, really helps to know that I'm eligible to collect SS in less than 18 months. Hopefully I won't need to right away, but just knowing it's there makes a huge difference.
