The Solar cross is depicted as a cross having an equal armed length, usually within a circle. It is interesting, but not confusing that this ancient symbol is mixed with the Christian cross. A close look at the Celtic cross will find our solar cross within it which is symbolic of the pagan god Taranis. The Native American Medicine Circle is also in this shape, each section representing a direction, a season, and a color.
To me, this suggests the turning of the year. The position of the solar cross on the high priestess says to me a symbol of the Light within the Heart of the Seeker.
