freaked some people out. Now I have to go do some quick googling.

The pomegranate symbolizes fertility and abundance in most traditions; wisdom, knowledge and learning in a few.

Apparently Persephony bound herself to Hades by eating some pomegranate seeds after he abducted her.

Medicinally it has been, and continues to be, used for gastrointestinal disorders.
