Words [View all]

I had a dream I was going through some old books that belonged to my dad. I found one called "Words." Each chapter took on a different author and just destroyed him or her. There were authors who I thought deserved the treatment, like Ayn Rand. Some of my favorite authors were included, like Jane Austin, Richard Matheson, and Mikhail Bulgakov. Each chapter mocked the author's style and annihilated their themes.

It was an amazing read. I called my dad to talk about why this book was so powerful. This is the last thing I said before I woke up:

"You cannot have doing without undoing. You cannot make a truth without allowing it to be unmade. Otherwise, you get religion, cults, factions, jingoism. You must allow things to be destroyed, even things that are true, beautiful, even things you love - or else you make a monster."
