"Make America Straight Again" Conference to Infiltrate Orlando Pride [View all]
Orlando will be infiltrated by alt-right conservatives from the New Independent Fundamentalist Baptist Church to protest the city’s pride festival and celebrate the third anniversary of the shooting deaths of 49 people at an LGTBQ+ hotspot, Pulse Nightclub. The group is hosting a three-day event titled “Make America Straight Again.” Multiple congregations announced the event on YouTube in May.
Pastor Patrick Boyle announced the event titled “Make America Straight Again,” in a video he uploaded on YouTube. In the video, the pastor outlined in graphic detail the hatred the church feels toward LGBTQ+ individuals. The event is planned for June 14-16 in Orlando, Florida.
According to Patrick Boyle, the group intends to harass, demean, and share their hatred during the pride festival to stop the “sodomites” from spreading their filth around the world. He shared that multiple pastors that have been vocal in their hatred toward the LGBTQ+ will attend the event.

One pastor attending is Steven Anderson. Anderson made headlines this spring when the Netherlands banned him from entering the country. Anderson planned to speak at an event in the country. His attendance at the event prompted several organizations to protest the government to ban his entry.

In 2016, Anderson made waves when he responded to the news of the massacre at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando. On June 12, 2016, Omar Manteen shot and killed 49 people at the gay nightclub. Additionally, 53 people were left wounded. After a three and half hour standoff with police, Manteen shot and killed himself. After learning about the massacre, Anderson called the event “good news.”
