2. "The sins of the fathers..."

Numbers 14:18

'The LORD is slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generations.'

There are multiple verses along those lines in the Old Testament. These schools are simply following the "rules" by punishing the child for the perceived sins of the fathers. Slavish adherence to the minutiae of the Bible has caused more harm than good since that book first appeared. There's something ugly for everyone in its pages.
