2. Deer... meh

However, I’m not a big fan of deer. At our house in the Catskills, they are ubiquitous. They present a serious danger on the roads where they can run in front of vehicles traveling at a high speed. The deer usually dies and the car gets expensive damage. Given the number of dead animals we see on the sides of roads, it’s a problem.

Additionally, the deer “packs” live uphill from our house but they venture downhill to the Delaware River during the day, returning in the evening. They never fail to leave their droppings in our driveway! We can’t grow flowers because these beasts will devour them.

Occasionally, we’ll see a buck, usually a youngster; the older bucks remain hidden most of the time.

They are beautiful and it’s really their land as much as ours. Perhaps they could help out with the taxes!
