had mapped out the route to the nearest hospital, in case Ali got hurt in the fight. Howard loved Muhammad, and had stuck up for him when Uncle Sam tried drafting him, and commissions took his title away.

Being as dumb a teen as I was, without a cent to my name, I bet my social studies teacher and three classmates on the fight. Couldn't have paid the debt if Ali lost. But I had listened to an interview with Angelo a week before the fight, as well as had discussed it with Rubin. So I was confident that Ali would win.

What an era!
