I barely got through it. If my daughter hadn’t given it to me for Christmas, I would have never picked it up. So terribly, terribly sad.

However, I was determined to finish it. Discovered that we were visiting County Monaghan, where they brought the informers to be executed, a month before they arrived. My mother was born there. And I have a first cousin on my dads side who was involved with the Good Friday agreement.

I made an exception for this one, but I just can’t read books about atrocities anymore.
