City of Ambition: FDR, La Guardia, and the Making of Modern New York [View all]

Last edited Sat Feb 18, 2017, 10:48 PM - Edit history (1)

Has anyone read this? Or any other substantial work on the history of NYC? I'm looking for my next Audible.com purchase and have had a few NYC histories on my Wish List for a while. I'm especially hoping to find out if any of them have a Right Wing slant, so I can eliminate them from my list.

I've already read and loved The Power Broker: Robert Moses and the Fall of New York.

Also NYC-related non-fiction in my Wish List:

-Empire City: The Making and Meaning of the New York City Landscape
-Supreme City: How Jazz Age Manhattan Gave Birth to Modern America
-The Island at the Center of the World: The Epic Story of Dutch Manhattan
-The Race Underground: Boston, New York, and the Incredible Rivalry That Built America's First Subway

Thoughts?
