and they play tracks from his "Greatest Hits" once a year or when they feel like attempting a "Libs are hypocrites, MLK said blah blah blah" facebook post

In pop culture the same type of lazy appropriation and false virtue signaling would be the Bob Marley "Fan" who has the "Legend" CD memorized but has never even heard of "Catch A fire" or "Babylon By Bus"

This is all part of the tool kit needed to do the "Not Racist" persona they portray in public
