2. If there is some "list," the government should surveil and act upon it when a crime

is developing. That protects everyone's Fifth Amendment rights.

I find it peculiar that some support this, even if for some tactical or operational reason. IOW, what if someone is on some list, and is in fact about to let some terror act go down, and he/she suddenly is denied a firearm? What would that signal to some cabal? What would that do to an investigation?
