So many folks just line up and wait their turn to die, thanks to being told for years not to fight back. One would have thought when the police changed their tactics when responding to active shooters, civilians would be taught to do/try anything to continue living.

... when we were given active-shooter training at the college where I am employed, we were taught a series of responses. The first was to "get out of Dodge" -- flee as fast and as far as possible. After that came some practical advice on hiding and fortifying one's hiding place. Finally, we were told, if all else has failed, you have to fight with any and all means available: chairs, tables, backpacks full of books, etc.

The man who was delivering this wisdom to us was a campus police officer. Guess what he had on his belt ...
