But the only reason the basic 1891 Mosin could be considered a"fetish rifle" is because until recently you could buy one for around a hundred bucks and the ammunition was dirt cheap if you didn't mind steel, non reloadable cases and corrosive Berdan primers.

They're kinda neat old guns, a lot clumsier and more awkward to load than some of the Mausers on the market but built to take abuse.

Obviously whoever wrote the article wasn't very well informed about Mosins.
