6. What is your approach to SD....

If you rely on a firearm, keep it in a quickly accessible site; deal with securing it later (guests, leaving home). This person (and perhaps you) needs advice on this matter. Some in these threads actually believe a gun will automatically jump up and start shooting at a home invader. That is not the case. A gun which is inaccessible is as useless as brick work in your chimney.
