I have followed this evil travesty from the beginning and find myself shaking my head in disgust at our pathetically failed criminal justice system. Following is an old idea that is not well known, but needs to be used a lot more, especially for frivolous charges and simple drug use. Everyone needs to understand the idea of jury nullification. People, if you are ever in a jury and don't feel like the defendant is getting a fair trial, or the punishment is out of order, please use the technique of finding the defendant not guilty. The prosecutor will never tell you that you have the right of jury nullification, this is not true. You are simply voting your conscience. They tell you that your job is to simply look at the evidence and decide if the defendant is guilty or not with no regard for the sentence awaiting them. If Sandusky's jury had known, they could have simply found him innocent and the judge would not have had to send him to jail. Truly the judges hands were tied. It is not the judges fault or the police. It is the heartless legislators that make these draconian laws. People ask for draconian laws for the truly evil in our society, not kids experimenting with drugs. I shudder to think how many wonderful people were destroyed by incarceration in these
hell holes. This is just sick,,, but happens many times every day. Think about you being in prison for doing something perfectly legal. Turning pot smoking youth into hardened criminals through horrific and barbaric conditions, Not at all unusual today. The criminal justice system was born in ignorance, fed through prejudice, and kept for control over the people. The inhuman and barbaric conditions in most prisons, except federal prisons for the rich, scream through the ages as one of the most obvious proof of mans depravity to man. Only war has it over prisons, but they only last for a time. Please feel sorry for those in prison, and whenever given the chance, encourage reform. Sorry, I know I carry on, but my eyes have been opened and its hard to shut them.
