Then the response should be simple, you are fired from your position after a fair and judgement in the court by your peers. There are good, able bodied and law-abiding prospective police who would gladly take the place of abusers of their positions.

No wonder the FBI are constantly investigating the NYPD. You are lucky to at least have the spotlight on these atrocities and action by the federal police to counter the abuses. In Canada we have the RCMP, let's just say they are far too often part of the problem to actually investigate other municipal agencies, it would be hypocritical of them to do so.
