I was surprised by the reference to a kid in the article, so I looked it up.

He was married twice in his 'pre-Family' cult days for short periods of time, and had a son with each wife. (Both women divorced him after a few years.) The 3rd child was Brunner's. Her parents got custody of him when he was 18 months old.
