Is it a good idea for men in their 80s to become new fathers? [View all]

Recently I have read about Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino becoming fathers while hitting the age of 80 (plus). Experience, money, time may be factors but is it a good idea for the new to be raised by someone who is closer to being a great grandfather? Is this a "fad" for celebrities?
