When I was in college, I spent my first summer as a server at Lums World Famous Hot Dogs (steamed in beer) restaurant in NC. Back then I could carry 5 mugs of beer in one hand and the tips were good.

But the best part of the job was a fellow server who made spring rolls and hot & sour soup at her place after work. She made it look easy, and was patient with my efforts to help. Those were the best spring rolls and the best hot & sour soup I have ever eaten. That was quite a summer, 50+ years ago. What interesting memories this is stirring up!
