I also made mashed potatoes, gravy and peas. I will repeat that meal tomorrow and the next day. I've frozen about half of the baked chicken breast. When I get around to thawing it, I'll be having chicken quesadillas and chicken salad sandwiches. I'll be getting at least six meals out of a breast that cost me maybe $3.00. Not sure how much, as it was in a package of 3, and I can't recall exactly what the total price was. Heck, even if the price for the three was $12.00, this is a bargain. The other two are labelled and frozen, and will eventually be thawed and cooked.

I happen to have a small appetite, live alone, and freeze various leftovers. A few days ago I made a chicken curry and froze three portions, again an economical sort of thing.

For me, my food costs are lower than ever. I eat out about twice a month. The rest of the time I cook and it's not hard to minimize my food costs. Having been married with kids in the past, I know that the math is very different for a family.
