14. spaghetti & meatballs (benefit dinner)

Our local American Legion (of which Al is a member) held a benefit dinner for a Veteran who was hit by a car (drunk driver) last December. The driver left the scene. She was apprehended.

FTR, dinner was horrible. The pasta was undercooked, and the sauce was lackluster. The meatballs weren't all that good. But they raised a boat-load of money for a guy who has literally been in ICU for 130 days.

The irony really gets to me: Served his country, probably in the Korean War, survived, only to be hit by a drunk driver in our tiny little hamlet. He's 82 years old.
