My life was a living hell for ten straight years up until I was 30. I'm 42 now, and I've had my share of problems since then, but nothing compared to what I was going through when I was suffering from symptoms.

After I was diagnosed, I started drug therapy and went to talk therapy as well for a while. I've done battle with my demons and laid them to rest. However, I'm still left with the physical part of bipolar disorder. That part will always be with me no matter what I do, so I will continue to take medication for the rest of my life.

For a lot of people, if they can get the right meds at the right dosages, it can make a mental health problem pretty much disappear, with the only reminder of the problem being your pill box. I'm one of those fortunate people that meds work very well for.
