31. a friend and i wrote a poem.

she is a writer and asks for prompts sometimes on fb, so i gave her my mantra- fear is a thief. she didnt really get it at first, so i elaborated.
she told me i wrote my own poem. she made a few changes, but most took my own words. so-
I despise keys and locks.
I just wasnt raised with that
It’s only stuff,
And no one was coming to take it
Anyway
So every time i tried to walk in a door,
If it was locked
fear had stolen that moment
Of locking in
Locking out
“they” weren’t coming
It’s only stuff,
And no one was coming to take it
but fear robbed me daily
of a minute
of my composure,
of my purpose
for walking through that door
