I didn't get why they blew away the fourth wall at the beginning and end unless it was some commentary on the illusion of storytelling, the toxic effect of which is a prominent theme in the story. I was happy to see Tom Burke in this. He was amazing as Orson Welles in Mank, and he's J.K. Rowling's detective character in the Strike series (on HBO Max).
