5. There's an unwritten rule

that the narrator/main character of a story never gets killed off. They always survive by some last minute miracle.

About halfway through the series I wondered if they might break that rule.

The psychiatrist used all his available resources to escape, but in the end it wasn't enough. When he died his eyes were open and I still kept thinking he was going to jump back up and take control. But no, he was gone.

The loose ends were wrapped up in the end. And having the serial killer request that his mother chain him up showed that the therapy didn't fail. He killed his therapist but not his father. And he did start to show some empathy.

I was kind of shocked but I think it was a fitting ending.

A very good job by all.
